Description of Hornby scholarship
An annual scholarship programme for Indian citizens providing them with an opportunity to study in Great Britain has started. AS Hornby Educational Trust scholarship is given to Indian teachers of English for getting Master’s degree at the University of Warwick.
Hornby scholarship is meant to improve the quality of teaching of English in other countries, including India. The scholarship includes monthly payments to cover expenses for accommodation, food and studies in Great Britain, as well as compensates the cost of air tickets, visa and IELTS exams.
Trust was found by ASHornby in 1961 to support teaching of English worldwide. It is also a registered charitable organization in Great Britain.
Requirements to candidates
To become a participant of a scholarship programme an Indian student has to meet the following programme requirements:
- Candidates have to have at least two years of work experience in the sphere of teaching of English;
- Provide a document confirming an educative degree of an Indian candidate;
- A scholarship candidate has to have Indian citizenship.
To get a scholarship an applicant has to take 4 mandatory steps. The first step evaluates correctness of application submission. The second one includes a private interview of a British consul with a candidate. At the 3 and 4 steps a participant has to go through an admission campaign to the university and then he/she is awarded with Hornby scholarship.
