Iceland allures lots of Indian tourists by its magic beauty, thermal springs and “white nights”. But there is one more attractive side of life – high quality of higher education, which is recognized in the entire world.

Education in Iceland is the choice of those Indians who pay attention not to prestige value of a university, but its infrastructure, comfort during studies, progressiveness of education programs and low cost of education. In fact, Icelandic universities are a bit behind universities of Great Britain if to talk about global fame, but their graduates are not less needed on the international labor market. Furthermore, good material resources of educational institutions of all levels have positive effects on acquiring not only theoretical skills, but practical experience too.

Education in Iceland for Indians

Indian student can get a Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science diploma in Iceland not only in state, but private universities too. State universities offer state-financed openings for Indian students with good academic performance, and also scholarships and grants for Indians. Private ones may also offer financial assistance, but in general Indian student has to pay for education.

To enter an Icelandic university it’s not enough to have a regular secondary education. That’s why Indian students from countries with an education system like in India can submit documents only after entering a local university and completing 2 years there. As for local citizens, after a basic school they go to a tertiary school and study for another 4 years there for the purposes of entering a university.

In general, Icelandic universities have entrance examination in vocation-related subjects. Moreover, it is better to find out information about the rest of details personally, because requirements may vary even for different specializations, not to mention universities.

As for the language of studying, there are two of them – Icelandic and English. Indian student has to know both of them, because printed materials for education programs are mostly in English, but lections are conducted in a state language, at least in state universities. However, there Indians may choose paid education, which is completely in English.
