The inauguration of the Days of Polish Universities INDIA 2018 will take place on May 9-10 in Ahmedabad (state of Gujarat). Recent news show that the participation of Polish-Indian “round table” on the development of academic and student exchanges and the opening ceremony of the Education Fair “Study in Poland” has been confirmed by Mr. Adam Burakowski, the Polish Ambassador to India and Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama – Gujarat Minister of Education.
India is one of the most promising recruitment markets. Almost half of its 1.3 billion inhabitants are people under the age of 25. It is estimated that India lacks 400-700 universities to satisfy the demand of young people for education – that’s why over 200,000 Indian students travel abroad each year. These Indian students, according to the data of the Association of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, spend a dozen or so dollars a year on learning abroad!
In recent years, there have been changes in the directions of Indian study trips – fewer students from India choose education in Great Britain or the USA, and the race for Indians is won by Australia, New Zealand and Canada. More students from India also come to Europe.
As we can see from recent news the number of students from India in Poland is growing at a rapid pace. In 2012/14 there were 217 Indian students, in 2014/15 already 545, and in 2016/17 up to 2138 Indian students. In the current academic year, according to preliminary data, it is studying 2957 students from India in Poland, which means a 37% increase compared to the previous year.
To sustain this impressive upward trend, the “Study in Poland” program has planned a series of promotional activities, the first of which is an educational mission to the states of Gujarat and Kerala in May this year. It will not only be a unique opportunity to recruit Indian students, but also to establish academic cooperation with leading universities in India, as well as with proven recruitment agencies.
